The Advisory Committee on Climate Change and Natural Resource Science (ACCCNRS)

Wednesday, September 18, 2013

The Advisory Committee on Climate Change and Natural Resource Science (ACCCNRS) conducted its first meeting on September 18-19, 2013 at the Hall of States in Washington, DC.  The ACCCNRS was established by the U.S. Department of Interior (DOI) to provide advice on the operations, partnerships, and science quality of the U.S. Geological Survey National Climate Change and Wildlife Science Center (NCCWSC) and DOI Climate Science Centers (CSCs).  ACCCNRS members represent federal agencies; tribal, state, and local governments; nongovernment organizations; academic institutions; and the private sector. Objectives for the inaugural meeting included:  providing ACCCNRS members with a working understanding of the U.S. NCCWSC and CSCs; providing an overview of other federal climate science services and programs; reviewing the Committee’s charge, scope, operating procedures, and ground rules; reviewing and soliciting Committee input on the CSCs and NCCWSC approach to science and stakeholder engagement; and defining an agenda for future Committee meetings.  All Committee meetings are open to the public.  More information about the ACCCNRS is available at https://nccwsc.usgs.gov/content/advisory-committee-climate-change-and-natural-resource-science-acccnrs.
