Building Bridges: Federal and Local Government Collaboration

Meridian Institute staff worked with the US Forest Service and the Northwest Colorado Council of Governments on an effort to build more constructive relationships and address several outstanding issues between the Forest Service and local governments in Colorado’s Blue River watershed (home of Meridian’s Dillon office).

Meridian provided strategic advice to project participants and facilitated a number of meetings. The project resulted in the selection of several issues for which there were significant opportunities for joint action to resolve longstanding land use conflicts. Work on these issue areas ultimately resulted in MOUs and other specific outcomes that indicate improved communication and cooperation.
