Coalition on Agricultural Greenhouse Gases

External Project Site: www.c-agg.org
Related: Agriculture and Food Security, Climate Change and Energy

From 2009 to 2012, Meridian Institute provided process design and facilitation support to the Coalition on Agricultural Greenhouse Gases (C-AGG). C-AGG is a group of about 30 agricultural producers, scientists, methodology experts, carbon investors, and project proponents that is fostering a fact-based discourse on the development and adoption of methodologies and protocols for greenhouse gas emission reductions and carbon sequestration associated with agriculture. C-AGG is funded by the David and Lucile Packard Foundation.

In April 2010, C-AGG issued a report surveying the landscape of greenhouse gas emissions reduction and carbon sequestration opportunities across the agricultural sector. The report is available at www.c-agg.org. Since then, C-AGG has sought to support the inclusion of agriculture in efforts to mitigate climate change by:

  • Identifying key research, data, and modeling needs

  • Advancing the development of agricultural greenhouse gas measurement and accounting protocols

  • Providing a forum for discussion among diverse stakeholders and relevant government agencies
