Gap and Capacity Analysis for the Colorado Outdoor Stewardship Council and Volunteers for Outdoor Colorado

Related: Environment and Natural Resources

At the request of the Colorado Outdoor Stewardship Coalition and Volunteers for Outdoor Colorado, Meridian Institute, in partnership with OMNI (an applied social science research company), helped to design and conduct an assessment to understand and share information on current conditions facing Colorado public land managers and volunteer stewardship organizations. The assessment also sought to understand and provide recommendations for how volunteer stewardship organizations could improve partnerships with public land management agencies to promote improved stewardship for public lands. OMNI conducted surveys, focus groups, and interviews to develop a report and draft recommendations. In January 2014, Meridian facilitated a diverse group of approximately 30 public land managers, volunteer stewardship organizations, and other interested stakeholders to discuss the findings and further refine a set of draft recommendations.
