Related: Global Stability and Security, Science and Technology

In 2007 and 2008, Meridian Institute facilitated the efforts of several IT companies to voluntarily cooperate with each other on internet security efforts and to coordinate responses to, and protection from, complex security threats to the internet. The group formed the Industry Consortium for Advancement of Security on the Internet (ICASI). ICASI’s founding members included Microsoft, Cisco Systems, IBM, Intel, and Juniper Networks—all leading global IT companies that are responsible for critical functionality of the internet. In cooperation with Blue Ridge Consulting, Meridian facilitated multiple meetings and held numerous consultations among these parties to discuss and develop the new organization’s mission, purpose, goals, structure, procedures, and strategy. These organizational activities were funded by Microsoft.

Now fully operational, ICASI serves as a trusted forum to address international, multi-product security challenges. The organization extends the ability of IT vendors to address complex internet security issues and better protect enterprises, governments, citizens, and the critical IT infrastructures that support them.
