Mid-Atlantic Regional Planning Body

‚ÄčThe Mid-Atlantic Regional Planning Body (MidA RPB) was formed to carry out ocean planning on a regional scale in the Mid-Atlantic. Members of the MidA RPB include Federal, Tribal, State, and Mid-Atlantic Fishery Management Council representatives, and its leadership is shared among Federal, Tribal, and State Co-leads. Since 2013, Meridian Institute provided process design, facilitation, and meeting planning services to the MidA RPB from 2013 to 2017,¬†with support from the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management at the U.S. Department of the Interior.

  • Draft Ocean Action Plan released for the Mid-Atlantic

    This July, officials from across the Mid-Atlantic released the highly anticipated draft of the Mid-Atlantic Regional Ocean Action Plan, a landmark document that outlines a collaborative approach to regional ocean planning in the Mid-Atlantic. The Plan, drafted by Meridian Institute on behalf of the Mid-Atlantic Regional Planning Body, will promote sustainable ocean uses and healthy ocean ecosystems from New York to Virginia.

  • Mid-Atlantic Regional Planning Body Inaugural Meeting

    In September 2013, Meridian Institute facilitated the inaugural meeting of the Mid-Atlantic Regional Planning Body. The meeting, held at Monmouth University in West Long Branch, New Jersey, convened appointed Regional Planning Body members from state, federal, and tribal governments. Approximately 75 members of the public were also in attendance, a number of whom took advantage of public comment opportunities throughout the meeting. The Regional Planning Body discussed a five-year timeline for regional ocean planning; determined an approach, process, and timeline for public engagement, goals, and geographic focus; and reviewed a draft charter.
