Summit County Health and Human Services Department Retreat

Related: Health

In 2010, four departments of Summit County (Colorado) government were integrated into a single Health and Human Services (HHS) Department. In January 2011, Meridian Institute facilitated a one-day retreat involving 41 staff from the new department. The retreat enabled staffers to become more familiar with one another and each other’s programs and services and to identify opportunities to improve communications and coordination, increase efficiency, and share expertise across program areas within the department.

Participants identified strengths of the department to be built upon and suggestions for improvements in three areas:  communications/coordination, operations, and service to the community. In addition, participants proposed structural changes to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the department. Meridian developed a summary of the retreat that outlined these proposed improvements and changes.
