Meridian Institute

University of Vermont Food Systems Strategic Directions for 2016-2020

Related: Agriculture and Food Systems

Meridian Institute provided strategic consultation services to the University of Vermont (UVM), which resulted in the development of a Food Systems Strategic Directions document that will guide the university‚Äôs work from 2016 to 2020. The strategy will help UVM solidify and strengthen its decades-long role as a leader in food systems. UVM is the first university in the country with undergraduate, Masters, and Ph.D. degrees in food systems. It is also a leader in scholarly food systems articles and deeply grounded in community, with innovative work and programs across campus, in Vermont, in the U.S., and globally.

The Strategic Directions document has five specific goals, each with objectives. The goals address transdisciplinary research; intra-university connectivity; external partnerships; students; and community. The development of the Strategic Directions document was informed by a collaborative and consultative process with faculty, staff, and students at UVM and by national and international food systems experts. The document was released at the 2016 UVM Food Systems Summit.
