Heather Lair, Senior Mediator and Program Director

Heather Lair is a Senior Mediator and Program Manager in Meridian Institute’s Washington, DC, office. Ms. Lair spends much of her time on AGree: Transforming Food and Ag Policy, for which she serves as Chief of Staff to the project. AGree is an eight-year effort to tackle long-term agricultural, food, and rural policy issues. In addition, Ms. Lair has worked on a number of food security and agricultural technology projects with foundation partners. Other work has focused on participatory approaches to increasing community and regional resilience to a variety of threats, including natural disasters, human-induced events, and economic and social perturbations.

Prior to joining Meridian, Ms. Lair worked at the University of Maryland’s Office of Sustainability as a facilitator of campus partnerships, where she focused on climate and energy-efficiency strategies. She has more than 15 years of experience working on sustainability, food security, and global stability issues for nonprofit, private-sector, and government organizations. Ms. Lair received her Bachelor of Philosophy in Interdisciplinary Studies from Miami University and holds a Master of Business Administration and Master of Science in Natural Resource Policy from the University of Michigan.
