Shawn Walker, Senior Project Coordinator

Shawn Walker joined Meridian Institute as a Project Coordinator in February 1999 and is now a Senior Project Coordinator. Since joining Meridian, Ms. Walker has been involved in numerous international and domestic projects, including projects on the topics of biotechnology, climate change, conservation, forestry, homeland security, nanotechnology, and strategic planning.

In 2012, for example, Ms. Walker provided logistical support for the Conservation Leadership Council (CLC), an initiative guided by a distinguished group of former government officials, public policy experts, leaders in the agricultural community, and business visionaries. Ms. Walker arranged travel for Council members, planned the roundtable discussions, procured meeting space, managed a papers development process, and assisted with communications and meeting materials for Council members and roundtable participants.

In another example, Ms. Walker oversaw logistical support for the Presidential Oil Spill Commission in 2010. She coordinated all onsite logistics for the public meetings, including registration, public comment, room setup, audio visual and videotaping of meetings. Ms. Walker also procured the meeting space, handled logistical support for Commission members, and assisted with meeting materials.

In addition, Ms. Walker has provided logistical support for various Rockefeller Foundation-sponsored international dialogues, including two meetings at the Rockefeller Foundation’s Bellagio Center in Italy, and expert panels held during the Rockefeller Foundation’s Program Strategy Task Force project.

During her time at Meridian, Ms. Walker has developed significant expertise coordinating travel, visas, ground transportation, lodging, meeting sites, and audio visual; supporting meetings onsite; assisting with participant communication; and scheduling and working with high-level executives and government officials.
