California Gulch Virtual Forum: The Public’s Site for Information and Input Regarding Changes at Stray Horse Gulch near Leadville, Colorado
Welcome to this Virtual Forum managed by Meridian Institute for community input to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Region 8 and the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE). The Virtual Forum will provide the community with the opportunity to suggest projects to mitigate impacts on historic features and provide input on other community concerns regarding remedy changes at Stray Horse Gulch (Operable Unit # 6) of the California Gulch Superfund Site. Meridian is under contract to EPA to serve as the neutral third-party to guide and facilitate the public input process. In that role Meridian will:
- Work with local partners to engage a variety of interests, individuals and organizations living in and around Leadville;
- Develop and manage this Website and utilize other public outreach tools including the local media, other local postings, mailings, and drop boxes to invite and gather input on selected questions and topics ;
- Organize and submit public input to the responsible agencies, EPA and CDPHE, for their consideration as they proceed with remedial change and mitigation measures associated with the cleanup at Stray Horse Gulch, OU6.

- Public Comment Period for Proposed Plan - The Public Comment Period on the Proposed Plan to amend the 2003 Stray Horse Gulch (OU6) Record of Decision will begin on June 10, 2010 and end on July 12.
