Endocrine Disruptors Screening and Testing Advisory Committee

Related: Health

Meridian staff served as the lead facilitator for a 40-person, federally chartered advisory committee charged with developing recommendations on a strategy for screening and testing chemicals and pesticides as to their potential to disrupt the endocrine (i.e., hormone) systems of humans and other biota.

The Endocrine Disruptor Screening and Testing Advisory Committee (EDSTAC) was chaired by the US Environmental Protection Agency and included representatives from several federal and state agencies; water providers; the chemical, pesticide, and consumer product industries; labor; national environmental, environmental justice, and public health organizations; and research scientists. EDSTAC issued a consensus report in August of 1998; implementation activities proceeded thereafter.
