Forest Service/Pinchot Institute Meeting on Collaborative Stewardship

Related: Environment and Natural Resources

In 2000, Meridian Institute facilitated a multi-stakeholder meeting sponsored by the US Forest Service and the Pinchot Institute for Conservation on the topic of collaborative approaches to forest restoration. The approximately 25 participants included local government officials and others from communities adjacent to national forest lands, as well as private companies that do forest restoration work. The purpose of the meeting, which was held near Washington, DC, was to provide input to the Forest Service on what “collaborative stewardship” is and how it could work, as well as the challenges associated with implementing the concept.
