Global Forest Products Market Forum

Related: Environment and Natural Resources

The National Commission on Science for Sustainable Forestry (NCSSF) brought together a wide range of stakeholders in February 2005 to develop a better understanding of the future of the global forest products market and build a shared understanding of what that could mean for forest biodiversity in the United States. Meridian Institute staff facilitated the meeting, which brought together 32 senior individuals from government agencies, the forest industry, forest investment organizations, conservation groups, and other organizations, as well as from the NCSSF itself.

The group viewed a common set of market forecasts and discussed them in the context of their own experience. They also developed a common understanding of likely global market changes for forest products and the effect of those changes on forests and forest biodiversity in the United States over the next 15-20 years.
