Green Building Certification Institute Strategic Planning

Related: Environment and Natural Resources

The Green Building Certification Institute (GBCI) was established in late 2008 to administer project certifications and professional credentials and certificates within the framework of the U.S. Green Building Council’s Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Green Building Rating System. In early 2009, the GBCI assumed responsibility for administering the certification of LEED projects. At that time, more than 17,000 commercial projects were awaiting certification.

Meridian Institute worked with the GBCI board in 2009, facilitating several strategic planning meetings in Washington, DC, to help them develop a mission, vision, and strategic plan for accomplishing their objectives and better understanding how they should strategically position themselves relative to other certifying and credentialing institutions and relative to the role of the US Green Building Council.
