Loblolly Pine Genome Project Principal Investigators Meeting

Related: Environment and Natural Resources

In April 2005, the US Forest Service convened a meeting of scientists from academia, industry, and federal agencies to discuss the need, purpose, scope, and implementation strategy for the Loblolly Pine Genome Project. Meridian Institute staff facilitated the meeting.

Scientists in the pine genome community had spent the previous two years organizing themselves into a cohesive group and had produced a proposal for the science work to be done. The purpose of this meeting was to discuss a policy, communication, and implementation strategy. A facilitated discussion yielded clear ideas on how to organize to move the entire project forward and gain support and funding. More information on the Loblolly Pine Genome Project is available online.
