Reintroduction of Wolves in the Southern Rockies

Related: Environment and Natural Resources

In 2000, Meridian staff facilitated a two-day strategic planning session for the Southern Rockies Wolf Restoration Project, a coalition of NGOs advocating for the reintroduction of wolves into Wyoming, Colorado, and New Mexico. Staff from the Sierra Club, Defenders of Wildlife, the National Wildlife Federation, and numerous regional NGOs worked with a Meridian facilitator to develop an action plan for their diverse activities and coordinate their efforts. Following a public debate and film viewing hosted by the National Wildlife Federation at Denver's Museum of Science and Nature, the reintroduction effort received extensive local news coverage, highlighting a willingness among parties to discuss the topic despite significant obstacles.
