Meridian Institute

World Bank Development Marketplace Grantee Workshops

Related: Agriculture and Food Security

In May 2011, Meridian Institute staff facilitated two workshops hosted by the World Bank’s Agriculture and Rural Development (ARD) group. The purpose of the workshops was to obtain feedback on agriculture- and development-related pilot projects implemented by winners of the 2008 Global Development Marketplace (DM). (The DM is a competition that awards small grant seed money for early-stage innovative development projects with strong potential for impact through scaling and replication.) Participants in the workshops included ARD staff, DM staff, and team leads and others representing more than ten development projects from around the world. With Meridian as facilitator, the participants shared lessons, experiences, and ideas related to the field of agriculture and rural development that could be brought back into the World Bank and shared more broadly through the development practitioners’ networks. Meridian staff developed a short report summarizing the key discussions, advice, and lessons shared during the workshops.
