About Karen Harris
Karen Harris is a Meridian Affiliate based in Norwich, Vermont. She works with foundations and non-profit organizations as a facilitator, strategic planner, philanthropic advisor, professional coach, and program evaluator.
Karen has worked on a variety of environmental issues and has strong expertise in climate and clean energy policy, including electricity, transportation, and fossil fuels. Most recently, she has directed the Climate and Clean Energy Program at the John Merck Fund and has served as Co-Chair of the Climate and Energy Funders Group, the national affinity group for climate funders. Other prior experiences include facilitating the launch of the Eco-Health Network and Alaskans for Energy Freedom and advising numerous foundations on transportation policy. In all her work, Karen applies deep listening, organizational thinking, and a direct communications style to help individuals and groups clarify intentions, overcome challenges, and achieve their goals.
Outside of her environmental work, Karen is a singer playing in the band Harmony Hotel and a long-time fan of Bulgarian music. She enjoys skiing, kayaking, and hiking and has never seen a lake or pond that she did not want to swim across.
