About Ann Tutwiler

Ann is a Senior Fellow at Meridian. Prior to embarking on this role, she served as Director General of Bioversity International, an agricultural research organization focused on using and safeguarding agricultural biodiversity to improve nutrition, enhance resilience, and support the conservation of genetic resources.

During her 35-year career, Ann has worked for international non-governmental organizations, the United Nations, the U.S. government, a foundation, a think tank, and a private agribusiness company. In each of these roles, she has focused on building “strange bedfellow” coalitions, creating food and agricultural policies that improve nutrition, support livelihoods, increase agricultural resilience, promote an open trade system, and enhance the natural resources that support food security. Within each organization, she has built new strategies and structures that support systemic thinking, alongside approaches that address the complex challenges facing the food and agricultural sector.

Ann currently lives in Silver Spring, Maryland. In her spare time, she enjoys swimming, kayaking, and entertaining friends.
