Lacuna Fund Hosts Grantee Convening, Attends Conference in Kigali, Rwanda

Meridian Institute acts as Lacuna Fund’s Secretariat. 

Lacuna Fund spent an action-packed week in Kigali, Rwanda with 34 grantees, four consultant partners, and two funders. During the AfricAI Conference, six grantees shared their datasets with the African AI community and held discussions about the sustainability and future use of their datasets.

In the two-day Lacuna Fund Grantee Convening that followed, grantees discussed data quality, sustainability, and lessons learned, built strong relationships that stretch across the African continent—and as far as Chile and Nepal—and brainstormed ways to ensure that benefits of tech development accrue back to the communities that build the datasets.
