Supporting Resilient Food Systems in Puerto Rico 

Alexis Rife and Christian Monzón supported an Environmental Defense Fund (EDF)-led resilient food systems workshop in Manatí, Puerto Rico. Convening farmers, fishers, and nonprofits from across Puerto Rico to inform EDF’s engagement in the archipelago’s food system, the workshop explored the state of Puerto Rico’s food systems. Participants considered pathways toward transformation with a systems lens, identifying underlying patterns of behavior, influences on the status quo, and high-leverage interventions. Alexis and Christian diligently led the all-Spanish meeting, built relationships with local stakeholders, and liaised with EDF.
