About Jane Slentz-Kesler

Jane Slentz-Kesler is a Project Associate and Ruckelshaus Fellow at Meridian, focused on oceans and aquaculture projects. Prior to Meridian, Jane’s work centered on community-based natural resources management in Africa, emphasizing the synergies between people and the environment. She spent a year living and working in Madagascar, where she conducted original research for her honors thesis on the ability of a protected area to preserve forest cover and provide for local livelihoods. Her research used Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and remote sensing to map land cover as well as two months of conducting interviews with local Malagasy farmers.

Jane graduated from Macalester College in St. Paul, Minnesota, with majors in Geography and Environmental Studies. She loves practicing French and Malagasy, playing soccer, and traveling solo.
