About Anne Knapke

Anne Knapke is Senior Director, Climate and Agriculture Strategy, in the Washington, DC office. Anne brings more than 20 years of experience in policy, strategy, and executive management roles domestically and globally on food and agriculture issues. She has worked within government, advocacy, philanthropy, and private sector organizations.

Most recently, Anne served as Deputy Chief of Staff for Policy in the Office of the Secretary at the U.S. Department of Agriculture under the Biden-Harris Administration. As Deputy Chief, Anne worked to ensure that policy development reflected Administration priorities as appropriate and managed interagency and White House policy development and coordination processes. Anne was instrumental in the design and implementation of programming investments of more than $4 billion to improve the resiliency of domestic food supply chains and create value-added market opportunities for farmers and producers. Anne worked to ensure efficient and effective deployment of resources USDA received through the American Rescue Plan Act, the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law and the Inflation Reduction Act to bolster rural economies.

Anne previously served as a Senior Program Officer at the Gates Foundation, working on U.S. advocacy on nutrition and agriculture issues and supporting innovative public-private partnerships to address malnutrition. She spent several years on Capitol Hill, serving as Legislative Director for U.S. Senator Amy Klobuchar. Earlier in her career, Anne spent time in the corporate sector working on international trade issues and as a consultant to global and domestic hunger nonprofits. Anne graduated with a BA from The Ohio State University and earned an MPP and MA from the University of Chicago, Harris School of Public Policy and Crown Family School of Social Work. She lives in the Brookland neighborhood of Washington, DC with her husband and young son.
