About Brad Spangler
Brad Spangler is a Senior Mediator and Program Director and serves as Director of Meridian’s Ruckelshaus Fellowship program. His projects have focused on shifting capital flows to support nature-positive agricultural commodity supply chains; tackling nature crime; advancing innovative freshwater management practices; and building community resilience to disasters and climate change impacts. A highlight of his time at Meridian is leading Meridian’s informal work on digital sequence information on genetic resources (DSI) comprising a broad stakeholder engagement effort in support of formal negotiations on DSI access and benefit-sharing at the U.N. Convention on Biological Diversity, the International Treaty on Plant Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture, and the World Health Organization.
Brad has more than 20 years of experience designing, facilitating, documenting, and implementing the outcomes of collaborative problem-solving and strategy development projects. He first delved into the world of public policy consensus building in 2000 as a research assistant at CU-Boulder. Brad initially put his interest into practice as an Associate with RESOLVE, working on public health and stormwater management issues.
Brad lives in Crozet, Virginia with his wife, two young children, and their dog Penni. His passions include skiing, live music, and cheering on the North Carolina Tar Heels.
