About Carina Isbell

Carina Isbell serves as the Research Manager for Meridian’s Technical Assistance Accelerator. Within this role, she is dedicated to bolstering access to and improving the quality of conservation technical assistance for farmers, ranchers, and forestland owners throughout the United States. 

Prior to joining Meridian, Carina’s background encompassed diverse subject areas such as agrobiodiversity conservation, food justice, agroecology, and community development. Her involvement extended to projects within the broader spectrum of food systems, ranging from local initiatives to international endeavors. Recently, she dedicated a year to researching the urban agroecology movement in Montevideo, Uruguay, funded by a Fulbright research grant. Additionally, Carina has a strong commitment to local research endeavors and has dedicated over five years to projects focused on US seed systems. Her work in this area aims to enhance crop diversity resilience through initiatives centered on seed saving and sharing networks. 

Carina lives in Vermont but is a frequent traveler, splitting her time between the east and west coasts. She is an avid reader, loves traveling to new places, and will use any excuse to spend time outdoors.
