Liliana Gutiérrez Mariscal

Liliana Gutiérrez Mariscal is a Meridian Affiliate based in La Paz, BCS México. She is involved in a wide array of projects and initiatives that seek collaborative action for sustainability and equity. With Meridian, she coordinates a national initiative aimed at uplifting the place that coasts and seas have in the political and policy agenda of Mexico through the creation of a social base for these ecosystems.

Through work in both government and organized civil society, Liliana has gained experience in highly complex multi-sectorial processes to achieve sustainability goals. In addition, she is a Fellow of the Academy for Systems Change and a National Geographic Explorer.

Liliana believes that perfection is something close to the mix of a campfire at the beach, the sound of the waves playing with the sand, and the laughter of Maria and Emiliano—the two human beings that chose her as their mom.
